the hidden life of the cell

Ever wonder what happens after we inhale a sneeze and how the battle begins between a single cell and virus and how it looks inside our body while all that happens???
It takes 120 trillion cells to make a human!!
what an incredible work going on while we don't even pay attention.
amazing !!

Korean Drama mama 2012-13!!!

"Drama" is not in my favorite genre of entertainment. I want every entertainment form end in 2-3 hours period so i can move on to daily life with out hooking to it.
big fan of Netflix and covered almost all the documentaries and movies in Chinese, French, Japanese, one day browsing for the new documentaries i stumble in to a title called Midas, viewers gave five stars and mistakenly thought it's a movie and clicked to watch and i don't know how one hour passed, i realized i am watching a 1st season of a drama and it has 21 episodes with one hour duration each!!

Midas is a suspense thriller, beautiful and awesome actors, brilliant screenplay, so hooked to it and forgot at one point that i am following captions, lost in to it!!

Midas
After 21 episodes of Midas, left it wanted more of it, having dreams about it, thinking about it i owed myself not to watch any more K-dramas and kept the promise for several months and Netflix keep recommending me another one and it is 62 episodes and I keep avoiding but in November started watching
The Great Queen Seondeok

the guy on the left, Bidam (Kim Nam Gil) i am warning, if you have a sensitive heart, don't watch this he is going to twist your heart in his own terms. you left hopeless and heartless at the end.
costumes are fab and acting is unbelievable.

My family noticed i am hopelessly in love with Bidam and they started teasing me and i am a new person in so many terms and my daughter and her friends know about my love affair with k-dramas! i called 2012 as Korean year! and announced that i am ending this love affair and not going back! end of January in 2013 my daughter came and announced, amma please don't angry at me but now i know why you are acting so nutty last year, i felt the same way now after watching two episodes of
Bread, Love and Dreams

I am like Nooooooooooooooooo!! this is not happening in this year too! why god, what did i do for this awesome torture and shamelessly join her watching this drama with her! we ordered chinese food on Friday evening and weekend marathon started for 21 episodes ;)
this is not as intense as before because i am old for these boys but my teen daughter is having a hard time coping with this
beautiful torture!
uh! life is so beautiful!!

doggy training

Snowball (our 4month old coton de tulear) is doing great and we all enjoying his company.
Naturally he is well behaved dog, doing his best pleasing us, listening us, eating, pooping, peeing, sleeping, chewing and

being healthy.
no complains about him, but he mush have some complains about US.
he is patiently waiting somebody make some house rules for him.
we are still pampering him since he is new and young, if it's cold outside or raining no one interested to take him out
so we are dangerously confusing him where he should go to poop or pee!
four of us have different opinions about every single situation, like
training, who is going to walk him, who is going to play this time, feed him, the most important thing discipline him.
we didn't give him specific rules, bathroom place, commands to sit, stay, come,

 go to his kennel,
or haven't decide who is the leader!
No one surrendered to no one yet (balance between human and dog) we are still in the process of deciding that and applying in real life.
if we continue like this for a while he is going to decide to be our leader and we are going to be doomed and become his human pets for the rest of his life and that's for 14 years!
that's not gonna happen in my watch!!

Yesterday i went to library for some books and my eye caught on a 6 disk DVD set, i heard about the dog whisperer through media before, like always I got curious and bought the DVD home.
we sit as a family and watched first Disk and we were amazed of Cesar's talent and his techniques.

balancing life needs commitment and 100% effort.
parenting, being a better person in any relationship, good employee what not everything.
it's all in your mind.
if you stood up and tell what you want that's what you get, but HOW you ask? is the real challenge:) because it changes from person to person and animal to human.
Dog whisperer show me that, simple body language, commands, signals make the dog understand that you are the leader and every dog likes to be under pack leader! when ever you show your weaker side then and there he become your leader.
my family decided that i should be the leader and trainer.
since i am so natural bossing people around ruthlessly (according to every one in the family)
why not the dog as well;)
my daughter does what ever sonwball wants, so he likes being around her, with in my watch we have to adjust this whole thing and train him together Cesar's way before it gets too late.

Documentary

pop culture bought revolution in modern society. everything shaken and spoiled by that. society got so confused, trying to fit in and looking for solutions. pop culture gives quick pleasures and tradition gives long lasting memories, there are no quick ways on anything in life. quick pleasures are dangerous, and for long lasting memories you need old fashion attitude that needs a lot of analyzing and patience.
of course It’s boring.
When you mix both and understood when and how to use accordingly that’s a successful modern life.

There is nothing wrong with all these changes by pop culture, but how you apply those ideas in your life is the key.

Everyone on this planet, whatever they are doing for living, they are doing for basic necessities and no one deny on that. That is food, clothing, and roof over the head.
Food is crucial part. You have to eat to survive even though you don’t have proper clothes or house.
Pop culture changed the whole idea of how we suppose to eat, what we suppose to eat,
how we grow that food, how we suppose to feed our kids, and literally how to brain wash kids with their products. So kid’s brain get used to the taste and convenience of
those products and when they grow that’s what they consume and think that’s how they
suppose to eat or live. How criminal is that!!

I am a suburban mom in America migrated from India. I grew up eating seasonal fruits and veggies from my
own back yard. I have preferences about what I eat. Quality is must. I don’t touch junk unless I am damn hungry. You are in the middle of road trip, no way to find food
anywhere but fast food chains, I do feed my kids that junk no complains or disgusted by it, on top of it junk tastes so damn good when you are really hungry, I praise the
convenience they provide when me and my family are hungry and love their fast service
and customer service. But I appreciate when they just stay on the road side not in my
grocery stores, schools, my house or worst in my kid’s brain. I am aware of the difference.

My daughter is growing in American suburbs. Going to school and eating school lunches.
For her that lunch is just normal thing, and yummy! from my perspective school lunches are disgusting. Those are highly processed; Harmon injected meaty, greasy, slimy junk food.
Every morning we argue over it.
I say…… I’ll pack it
She says ……there is nothing wrong eating that food. Everybody is eating.
I say ….. I am not busy like their moms; I have plenty of time to pack for you, and i try really hard to convince.
She says….. You think you always right but I don’t think you always right!
I say…… there is nothing wrong knowing what is right from wrong, that’s what kids suppose to do when they are kids.

She had enough already and decide to buy anyway!
It goes on and on until somebody gets broke in tears and leave the place.
This is hard, very hard living in pop culture and make sense on things which don't make sense at all, and really out of hands by the time they realize what’s
going on!

No one can blame anybody, but being aware what's going on around you, educate yourself on it, is the most important thing as an adult and a parent and not involving and trying to follow the crowd or not intoxicating of yourself and family is the only solution and definitely in your own hands, and old fashion stubborn attitude, and patience is the only TOOL
working your butt off to achieve that,
because there are no quick fixes here.

if you guys have time and resources try to watch "Food Inc" film, the above youtube clip is just trailer, i did watch with my daughter and now, she agree what i am trying to say to her about processed junk food, and the decreasing healthy choices in super markets, in a quite understanding manner.

Dor-the movie

Finally! after a long time, i watched the movie i liked and the one i can put it here.....it is colorful, past few days i am looking for some color around me and my eyes were rejoice after i watched this movie, and cinematography is so good so does the screenplay!
Dor means string.
In the beginning it didn't fascinate me so i wanted to stop watching, i continue just because of the scenery and then suddenly the story started picking up i completely hooked by the charm of the acting, direction and music.
breathtaking cinematography of two diverse but duly beautiful Indian landscapes.
Rajasthan and Madyapradesh
the girls who performed in the movie, are the modern girls.....

......but through out the movie they carry out amazingly good. Girish Karnad is a surprise.
it's not a typical dancing, singing bollywood movie;)  such a pleasure to watch!

weekend movie

I am a proud member of Netflix .... it's a window for me, to watch movies around the world and learn different cultures and life styles. Huge collection of 'instant play' section, so no waiting for the movie in the mail box, you don't even have to go out to get the DVD from mail box Super Huh! i know :)(who ever live in Cleveland they understand my winter blues) Friday night is our family movie night, four of us watch movie together, kids turn first and then us as a couple, before bed time and any thing interesting in netflix ( this is the plan but in reality we always don't end up watching couple movie though. we end up sleeping at the end of the kids movie). He watch movies for fun and i watch with passion as usual. my selections are kinda boring for him.

this weekend I watched Brick lane. based on Monica Ali's novel. i did not read the book, not yet, may be someday...books and movies are two different media and i decided to follow only one if the content is same. i read Namesake and i adore that book, but i don't like the movie may be because i am comparing too much with the book. so i decided choose only one, book or movie.

Immigrants are full of emotions, memories of birth place haunt you, literally haunt,  whispers of the childhood, struggle of fitting in new place, and you are the one and the only one relate to it, very personal  from person to person.

when i read the review of this movie, i thought Oh! one more movie on immigration and what's the difference they are going to show us, but from start to end it surprised me and i loved the movie. simply wonderful, heart warming and cerebral. It was a personal journey about human beings. every immigrant asks at least once themselves "where is my real home"? i personally feel home is where you found your freedom and awareness. Tannishtha Chatterjee is so talented and Sarah Gavron did a fabulous job.
